The warm weather this past weekend (+17C on Sunday) was greatly appreciated by visitors to Cold Creek Conservation Area, on the 11th Concession of King. Above and below are pictures of Shiloh, a Tennessee Walking Horse, who was getting a little rehab therapy, from his mistress, for some recent leg and gait problems. Apparently there is no grass in his home paddock yet, but the sprouting green grass at Cold Creek (see below) was very much to his liking.
The York Retriever Field Trial Club held a competition at Cold Creek on Sunday and the youngster and adult Golden Retrievers, pictured above, were keenly aware of the proceedings and ready to do their part. Below, left, a young Black Lab is given the opportunity to burn off some extra energy before being put through her paces. Right, below, King Recreation Department staffers gather maple sap in preparation for the making of maple syrup. The Maple Syrup Festival at Cold Cold Creek takes place on Saturday, March 24th, from 9 am. to 2 pm. The week before, March 12 to 16, maple syrup education programs run every day between 10 am. and 3 pm. More details are available at www.king.ca.
