York Regional Forest ~ Happy Valley Tract

 Photos by Barry Wallace
I recently visited the Happy Valley Tract of the York Regional Forest, south of Pottageville, on the west side of King's 7th Concession.   It is a well-established hiking trail of approximately 1 kilometre, with a lookout high on a knoll with a great view over western King Township.   The loop trail is well-maintained and the footing is good.   A sign at the entrance asks users to allow space for physical distancing due to Covid 19.

There is a bulletin board with a trail map and information about things to look for along the way.   You are advised to keep dogs on a leash at all times.   There is off-road parking for several vehicles

The view from the lookout knoll has two log beam benchs for those wanting to sit and contemplate what nature has to offer.   A look up may allow you to see a Turkey Vulture (right) soaring above the King Ridge.  Trail photos will appear in another blog a few days from now.
More photos tomorrow...
