If you are a regular driver through Kinghorn, either getting to or coming from Hwy. 400, or heading south on Jane Street to Maple or York University, you know only too well how long replacement of the bridge decks over the East Humber River, at both the King Road and Jane Street have taken. Both projects began in April of this year. The 2-lane Jane Street bridge (the smaller of the two projects) is predicted to be completed in the fall of 2020. The 4-lane King Road bridge, a much larger project is planned to be finished at some point in 2021. A Region of York public notice states that the King Road will be reduced from from four lanes to two, accommodating traffic in both directions while bridge work is being completed. Construction will cease in fall 2020 to spring 2021, during which time all four lanes of traffic will be re-instated.
