Many improvements have been made to the Cawthra Mulock Nature Reserve this past year. The reserve is located on the west side of Bathurst Street, just north of the Miller Sideroad/Green Lane West, on the King Township/Newmarket border. The main pond has expanded greatly now that the beaver dam has been restored. The dam is over 3 metres high at its central point (see photo below)
As of December 1st, there was still a Kingfisher inhabiting the pond above, and many people and children were handfeeding Chickadees and Red-breasted Nuthatches. Signage, parking, trail maintenance, benches, are all upgraded.
