The photographs pictured above and below are part of the current Mayor's Celebration of Youth Arts (MCOYA) at the Aurora Cultural Centre and Aurora Town Square on Yonge Street. The photos here feature particular works of Grade 12 student Thandia Lord and they are impressive papier-mache mask creations. Her works are among those of some fifty area graduates whose works are on display until April 20. Several events are planned for the exhibition including a demonstration by Thandia Lord on mask-making.

Above is a new and colourful door hanging appearing at a resident's apartment at Delmanor Retirement Residence on Yonge Street in Aurora. It graces the apartment entrance of its artistic and skilled creator, 90-year-old Margaret. The work is a resplendent quilted endeavor measuring over four square feet and features an African elephant. It's extraordinary craftsmanship by an extraordinary woman. Well done, Margaret!

"If I were to run, I'd run as a Republican.
They're the dumbest group of voters
in the country.
They believe anything on Fox News.
I could lie and they'd still eat it up.
I bet my numbers would be terrific."

Cast was stunning in Miller's classic
My partner Pat and I attended opening night of the Curtain Club of Richmond Hill's recent presentation of the Arthur Miller classic drama 'ALL MY SONS'. Not unexpectedly, the play was grim and depressing but the performances by the 12-member amateur cast, who reportedly had spent three and half months rehearsing this play, were outstanding. The final scene of the play climaxes with a loud, off-stage gunshot, that takes the life of one of the main characters. At the end of the play, I leapt to my feet, shouted "BRAVO!" and applauded wildly. Many in the audience around me shouted bravos also and many gave a standing ovation to the cast taking its bows. It was a sobering play, but it was an inspired and brilliantly presented production. It was local community theatre at its best!

Above is a photo of my close friend, Pat Cromie, enjoying some swimming pool exercise at the Delmanor Retirement Residence on Yonge Street, in Aurora. Pat and I are usually in the pool three times a week for swimming exercise classes and leisure swimming. The water temperature is always warmish plus there is a hot tub!

Here's the front page of a wedding invitation my partner Pat received recently from a granddaughter of hers. What a charming photo!
I couldn't help but think back 60 years ago to the wedding invitation for my dear but deceased wife Linda and I. What an incredible difference the decades have made to something that seemed so traditional and plain, ages ago, to something now with animated photography, humour and colour.

Delmanor Retirement residents in Aurora were treated recently to a mixture of musical styles and selections by the Richmond Hill Concert Band. Selections included pop symphony music, Simon & Garfunkel classics, big band standards and trendy video game themes!
