Pond at Villanova College ~ Marylake, King City

"Water, the Hub of Life.
Water is its mater and matrix,
mother and medium.
Water is the most extraordinary substance!
Practically all its properties are anomalous, which enabled
life to use it as building material for its machinery.
Life is water dancing to the tune of solids."

In the herb garden...

Photos by Barry Wallace
The chipmunks and the goldfish
Several times each day, our resident chipmunks scramble on top of this boulder, in the herb garden,  to check out the lay of the land.   They're particularly wary of our cat, Jamie.   But Jamie is always on a leash when he's outdoors and hasn't caught a chipmunk yet, that I know of.   I expect things to stay that way. Not surprisingly, the chipmunks seem totally indifferent to the goldfish.

About that Range Rover comment...

 Photos by Barry Wallace
I casually wondered a week or so ago, in this blogsite, if I was the only one in King City not driving a Range Rover.   They seem to be everywhere.   The one above (actually a Land Rover), I came across in front of Coppa's, in the new plaza...the one below at the GO Train station.   The one above is, I believe, an early 1970s Land Rover Series III Lightweight.   It looks like it's still going strong.   I think however, I'd go for the blue beauty Range Rover below.   In the meantime, I'll continue to get around town in my 15-year-old Jeep Liberty.

Sugar & Spice Bakery & Cafe in Schomberg

Linda and I dropped into the new Sugar & Spice Bakery & Cafe, on Main Street, Schomberg, after making our annual visit to the Schomberg Fair.   We both had a a bowl of Mushroom, Barley & Celery Soup with a Cheddar Bisquit.   They were both, as they say, 'to die for'.   What a great addition to the village.   Best wishes to young proprietor, Melissa Fortin.   The bakery and cafe is open seven days a week, 7 to 7 Mon. to Fri. and 9 to 5 on weekends.

New parking lot well underway at Kinghorn

 Photos by Barry Wallace
Included here are a half dozen photographs showing the construction of the new parking lot being constructed at the rear of the King Heritage & Cultural Centre, on the King Road at Kinghorn.   The surface of the parking lot will feature the latest technology in hard surfacing that is porous for rainwater run-off to be drained and absorbed below the surface.   The prefabricated parking surface panels are seen in the photo below, stacked and waiting to be installed   The job is expected to be completed by the end of June and will add 35 parking spots for automobiles.
