Just what you were looking for - right?

Photos by Barry Wallace
Here's a new sign (above) that caught my eye as I drove through Pottageville last week on my way to get birdseed in Schomberg.   The sign is on the northwest corner of the Lloydtown-Aurora Road and the 7th Concession of King.   On my return trip to King City, my curiosity got the better of me and I just had to head up the 7th to get a glimpse of a helicopter pad.   I did not see or hear a helicopter pad or a helicopter, but the photo below shows that there is a 15-acre property with a 9,000 sq. ft. log home and a helicopter pad.   These features should narrow the prospects down to a precious few, I think.   Best wishes to the vendor(s).

KETTLEBY ITALIAN BAKERY
Dorio's Kettleby Italian Bakery shows its charming face after a makeover which has taken place over the past several months, without closing its doors.   The historic building is located on the Kettleby Road, between Keele and Jane Streets.   It is one of my favourite places to get a scooped ice cream cone.   Best wishes to the folks at Dorio's.

Demolished and gone in a day...

 Photos by Barry Wallace
This mammoth tractor trailer pulled up in front of a home on Bennet Drive, behind the King City High School last Tuesday, and waited to be loaded to the brim with the remains of a bungalow which had been sold to make way for the building of a new house, on the site.   To my amazement, the entire house from the ground level up was demolished in two to three hours and the remains, except for the materials making up the foundation, filled the trailer to the brim.   The tractor trailer was on its way to a landfill site in the Niagara region, shortly after lunch.   After it left, a few regular-size dump trucks hauled away the remains of the basement and miscellaneous detritus.   By supper time, everyone was gone and site was basically empty.   Amazing...

Celebrating for Canada Day

This Region of York grass-cutter was on Weston Road, just south of the East Humber River, in Laskay, a day or so ago, and had Canada flags prominently displayed on his tractor/mower.   Well done, friend.
