Italian eatery to open end of September.

   Photos by Barry Wallace
enoteca motorino is scheduled to open the first of September in King's Ridge Marketplace in King City.   My literal translation of enoteca motorino is 'wine shop scooter'.   I don't speak Italian, so a vernacular translation might be catchier or sexier.   Whatever...I'm looking forward to dining there.   The original enoteca motorino is located on Rutherford Rd. in Woodbridge....online reviews pretty good.

Laskay Hall being readied to leave Laskay

 Photos by Barry Wallace
Laskay Hall is being raised up in preparation for its removal from the site it has occupied for the past 158 years on Weston Road, in the hamlet of Laskay.

Meanwhile, site preparation for Laskay Hall in Kinghorn at the King Heritage & Cultural Centre is well underway (see photos below).   Completion of the project is still projected to be complete by the end of October and the historic building could be used for display space as soon as the hall is in place.   Full servicing of the old structure is expected to be completed quickly and word is that the traditional Christmas festivities at the Laskay Hall will take place, as normal, later this year.

At the same time as the Laskay Hall relocation is taking place, construction of the new bandshell at the heritage and cultural centre is well underway also (see photos below).

Time for Hydrangea

This beautiful PG Hydrangea is to be found in King City's Wellesley Park, on the northwest corner of Keele Street and King Road.   It is the time of summer when hydrangea come into their own in many gardens.   I stopped by Black Forest Garden Centre to ask one of the Kohnen brothers if they could identify this hydrangea for me, from the photos I took.   None of the boys were about but their mother, Katherina, was pretty sure it was a PG Hydrangea and she took the time to show me several varieties of hydrangea which they still had in stock.   Youngest brother John showed up and told me that hydrangeas have become tremendously popular and there are now so many varieties and hybrids that many gardeners don't even recognize them.

King's artistic gateways

Photos by Barry Wallace
King Township is known for the artistic gate presentations of many of its country properties.   The skill and detail executed in the metalwork is often extraordinary, as seen in the three photos featured here.   All three gateways are fairly new and near to each other on the 16th Sideroad, between Keele and Dufferin Streets.
