King City traffic is dead slow past cemetery...

York Regional Police can now stop speeders on the King Road, in King City, by setting up radar right in front of their new sub-station, at King Township's recently-opened administrative headquarters in the west end of the village.  I've never seen traffic going this slow here, in the absence of a funeral.

King City wetland to stay a wetland...

Village marsh is provincially significant wetland

I've wondered for some time what might become of the marsh and wetlands between the new King Township Administrative Centre, opposite the King City Cemetery, and the Royal Collection condominium apartments, on the south-west corner of the King Road and Burns Boulevard.   The two photos here show the marsh from the east and the west.   I gave Chris Fasciano, King's Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture a call to get his word on the status of the area.   Chris quickly pointed out that the marsh/wetlands have been designated by Ontario as 'Provincially Significant Wetlands', a designation of areas identified by the province as being most valuable and as such will not be developed in the future.   Sounds good to me.

At Seneca College's Animal Health Facility...

A marked glass shelter at the south end of Seneca's King Campus is provided for the convenience of smokers who work and study in and around the Animal Health Facility.  The smokers are lucky because the spot is one of the coldest and most windswept on the Campus.

New police detachment opens in King City...

The new King City detachment of the York Regional Police Department is now open in part of King Township's new administrative headquarters, on the south side of the King Road, at the west end of the village.   The police sub-station is on the ground floor at the north-west corner of the building, behind the building's four flag posts.
