Backyard bunny ablutions...

White poppies struggle for political inclusion...

                                                                                                      Photos by Barry Wallace
I'd never seen a white poppy until this week, when I spied several growing in my neighbour George's front yard flower bed.   Wikipedia then informed me that I had never known about the decades-long political divisiveness between red and white poppies.   I have set aside the political colour issues for the moment and am just plain enjoying these lovely flowers.   I hope you find them attractive also.   Incidentally, white poppies can also have yellow centres.

A hobby can give balance...

Pictured above are three recent arts/crafts pieces by my eldest daughter, Allison Bailey, raised in King City but now a resident of Aurora and an employee at the Regional Municipality of York headquarters, in Newmarket.   The strain of just having completed a Masters Degree has been tempered by her new hobby of glass-cutting and creative design with found or cheaply- sourced  artistic  materials.   Well balanced work Allison ... professionally and artistically.

In the peony garden...

A fly expires on a peony petal.   One of many ants views the scene before trying, unsuccessfully, to lift and carry off the winged insect.   None of the ants succeed.

Jane Street ~ south of Sacred Heart

This corn field was planted last fall and is thriving this year, except for where a heavy rain swept through the field shortly after it was planted and washed away the new seed.   The result looks like a dry riverbed.   Ahhh, but for the vagaries of Mother Nature.
