More new homes in King City

A new spate of homes in King City is under way at the north-west corner of the King Road and Dufferin Street.   This tsunami of housing will be joined in the near future by an adjoining retail shopping centre located directly at the same corner, on the frontages of King and Dufferin.   Reports of a Sobey's supermarket, in the new shopping centre, have been widespread for months but I have not heard of an official  confirmation yet.

Nobleton's St. Alban's last service

Nobleton's St. Alban's Anglican Church has been deconsecrated and has closed its doors after 124 years of services.

The final service was this past Sunday, June 23rd, under the direction of Rev. Sheilagh Ashworth and Bishop George Elliot.   Congregants enjoyed a final lunch together after the service.

Raspberry Social at Laskay Hall

Kayaking on the canal

I usually drive along the Holland Marsh canals in northern King Township about once a week.   I hardly ever see boats of any kind on the waterways there.   In fact, I usually see more snowmobiles on the canals in wintertime, than boats in summer.   But today was one of those rare occasions when someone was making his way in the direction of Bradford, in a long kayak with an outrigger.   The weather seemed perfect: sunny, light breezes and 20`C.   The new and improved canals are wider and deeper and could in fact be used for multi-lane kayak racing.
