Gray Tree Frog at Eversley

Gray Tree Frog (Hyla versicolor)

I photographed this tiny frog sitting on a metal fence post in a field near the hamlet of Eversley, on Dufferin Street.   It is native to south-eastern Ontario, where it usually remains in treetops except when breeding and laying eggs in wet grounds.   As its scientific name (Hyla versicolor) suggests, The Gray Tree Frog can change its appearance from gray to green to camouflage itself against the background it appears upon.

After the rain...

One much-needed, decent rain was all it took on Thursday of this week to bring up toadstools in the backyard lawn, the next morning.   Added to that was a surprise Morning Glory which suddenly sprang forth in the herb garden.

No-name cafe is now open

The former Sheena's Kitchen, on Main Street, in Schomberg, is once again occupied by an eating establishment.   It's been open for about three weeks but doesn't have an official name yet.   I'm told however that there is a contest for patrons to submit a name which could earn them a $100 gift certificate.   The contest will be running for another week or so in August and the grand opening, with a new name is to be celebrated in early September.     The proprietor of the new dining spot is Janet Hill, who just happens to be the proprietor of the Scruffy Duck Restaurant & Pub, located immediately next door, in the same historic, one-time  feed mill.    My suggestion for a name is the 'No Name Cafe', but I haven't submitted an entry.
