1959 Austin-Healy Sprite Mark I ~ at Hogan's

Once upon a time, I owned a Sprite
I spotted this completely restored 1959 Austin-Healy Sprite in front of Hogan's Inn last week, and just had to get a photo of it and chat briefly with the owner.   It caught my eye because 50 or so years ago, I owned a 1961 Austin-Healy Sprite for a few years and it was the most fun I ever had on four wheels!  After a few weeks of ownership I took my 'Bug-eye' Sprite for a long weekend ride up into the Haliburton area, with a buddy.   On my return to King City, I felt like I was the new Sterling Moss, but upon turning into the driveway at my mum and dad's house, discovered I was going too fast and shot over a rock garden, bordering the driveway and hit a small pine tree which caved-in the front of my beloved new sports car.   I had it repaired at Frank Unterlander's Keele Street garage in the centre of the village and had its red paint changed to a 'Labatt's Gold' colour.   The wheels were painted a chocolate brown.   Garish, by God, but I loved it.  Ahhh, the good old days.

My barber and her bike...

This 'biker chick' is my barber in King City: Palma.  Apart from her two daughters, Palma's pride and joy is her hot Harley.   She occasionally rides her Harley to work if the weather is good and she doesn't have a pile of stuff to take with her.   Her partner and her daughters also ride bikes, so its a family affair.

PA Day for grandsons at Around The Bend...

 Photos by Barry Wallace
Linda and I spent a PA Day with two of our grandsons at Around-the-Bend Farms last Monday.   It's become an annual fall tradition for us and it's always fun.

Nobleton skyscraper...

Photos by Barry Wallace
Highway 27 and MacTaggert Drive
Steel is up for a new 3-storey, multi-tenant, commercial building in northern Nobleton, on the south-west corner of Hwy. 27 and MacTaggert Drive.   A sign is up on a construction fence announcing that a St. Phillips Deli - Bakery - Cafe will be one of the new tenants.   Nobleton residents may be familiar with St. Phillips locations that already exist in Kleinberg and Maple.   Looking at the erected steel in the north-west corner there appears to be a section of the building that looks like four storeys!
