Beaver dam beneath Jane Street bridge...

Here are two photographs of a beaver dam beneath the Jane Street bridge over the East Humber River, at Kinghorn, just north of the King Road.   A big  pond backs eastward and upstream from the bridge, attesting to the  handiwork of the large amphibious rodents.   Below these two photos are two photos of the Jane bridge under renovation, above the Humber.   

The photo above shows the view from the bridge beck, under construction, looking south to the intersection of Jane Street and the King Road.   The photo below shows the bridge deck again, looking north up Jane Street towards Kingscross Estates.

Jamie the cat...

MEET JAMIE

Jamie is the master of the house in my home in King City.   His mistress, my dear wife, Linda, passed away last November.   That means I have moved up from being third in the pecking order to position number two.  My official title, however, is still 'cat's slave', and I wait on him hand-and-foot.   Linda made sure I knew everything about Jamie's needs before cancer took her.   I believe Jamie is amazed that I seem to anticipate his every need.   Being a widower for more than six months now, and being cooped up due to Covid 19, It's kind of quiet around here.   Jamie is lying beside my computer as I type this blog and when I've finished writing, he will lead me to my bedroom and jump into bed with me.   Thank goodness for that.

Midland Painted Turtles now out and about...

I photographed this Midland Painted Turtle close to King City last weekend.   It has a distinctive black shell with dark red or orange markings.   No other native Ontario species has similar markings.   It is the only one of eight native species of Ontario turtles that is non-threatened, but it is still susceptible to the threats that other turtles face.
