The "Annie Rooney"

The term "Annie Rooney" was the popular nickname for the Schomberg & Aurora Railway (S&AR), a 36 km. line in Ontario that operated from 1902 to 1927.   The line ran from the village of Schomberg to Oak Ridges, a community on Yonge Street, just south of Aurora.
It ceased operation as the rise of personal automobiles and motor trucks made the radial railway system obsolete.
