Swainson's Hawks, a raptor normally found in the U.S. midwest (particularly in Kansas), has been showing up in Aurora for the last three or four years and are nesting and breeding here. There nests are to be found in southwest Aurora in tall fir trees. They resemble Red-taiied Hawks in size and colouring and are easily mistaken by casual observers.
