Trumpeters hanging on at Carrying Place...

Photos by BarrytheBirder
How long will they stay?
Above, are four of the Trumpeter Swans that settled on the main pond at Carrying Place Golf Course last fall.   They decided to stay for the winter and were provided with a small aerated space for open water and regular feed to dine on.  They seemed quite content through the winter but the big question now is will they migrate north as they usually do in the spring?   I counted 11 of the big birds this Sunday.   I am trying to imagine how secure they could feel when the golf course is in full operation after the winter.   We shall see what we shall see.
