A few streams cross the trail, including the pretty trickle above.
I believe that the large boulder, in the photo above, predates the big tree on the left, which grew from a sapling, getting bigger over many decades and ultimately pushing the boulder up and out of its way.
The photo at right shows an old and dead cedar tree which at some point in its past had two new cedar saplings grow up very close, on both sides of its trunk. The old cedar became ensconced between the young trees, as they grew, and now they have become an inseparable tree-triptych.
