One-legged starling is thriving...

 Photos by Barry Wallace
I watched the juvenile American Starling in these photos, while it was one of a group of starlings, for a couple of weeks before I noticed it did not have a right leg.   It gets around quite well on one leg when eating seeds on the ground with other starlings and the missing leg does not hinder its flying and perching abilities.   I can't imagine it surviving in a nest with only one leg from birth, so I assume it somehow lost the leg after fledging...and survived.   It's been an inspiring encounter.
