Hi David. I started swimming in Bell's Lake, with friends, over 60 years ago as a young teenager. I never heard the "bottomless" story, but I remember touching bottom ... close to the shore. I never did swim out to the centre of the lake. It was a really popular spot in the 1950s.
OK, thanks. He grew up in Vaughan but we had family all through that region. I wondered if it was a local folklore thing or simply a story a Dad would tell three wide eyed boys.
My Dad called this the "Bottomless Lake" when my brothers and I were growing up. Not sure why. Anyone have any ideas?
