Keele Street hoarding being transformed

 Photos by Barry Wallace
Artist Amanda Brittin (right) and her daughter Elsa, a college art student, have been busily creating a mural on the Keele Street hoarding in front of the old King City Garage property, which was razed to make way for future re-development.   When it was learned that re-development could be 12 to 18 months away, the township decided plain plywood hoarding was not desirable.   Arrangements were made to paint the hoarding white and lay the groundwork for an expansive painted mural.   Amanda and Elsa have begun the work of creating a landscape in outline, which will be filled-in with colour by them and volunteers.   There is a plan to invite visitors to this weekend's King City Craft Beer & Food Truck Festival to join the volunteer painters and add their artistic talents.   Elsa is seen below taking her own pictures for posterity.
