Short blog interruption...

I am moving from my home in King City to a new location in Aurora, Ontario at the end of November.   My blogs shall return when I am in my new residence.   I intend to keep blogging thereafter.   See you soon.

Light show in Rankin Inlet...

Photos by Bernice Sandy
Rankin Inlet
Here a couple of photos, that while having nothing to do with King Township, might be of interest to some some readers of this blog.   The photos were taken by a friend of my cousin, Beverley Jones, who lives over in Bolton.   The lights are not the 'Northern Lights', but ground lights reflecting straight up from the community of Rankin Inlet, in Nunavut...very eye-catching.

A year later... 18th Sideroad east of Dufferin

Photos by Barry Wallace
Above is a photo I took one year ago of an old barn being restored on King's 18th Sideroad.   At the time I commented that it is not often that old barns are restored anymore.  Nowadays they are usually demolished and new structures are erected.   But this one lived to survive another day, and another year.   So be it for many more.

Yard Waste experts...

It took me 2 days to rake up 26 bags of fallen leaves this past week, and these two gentlemen took all of 25 seconds to load the bags into their truck.   Sheesh!

Remembrance Day 2021

  Emerson Wallace
I took in the Remembrance Day service at the Trisan Centre in Schomberg this past Thursday morning.   The tributes to the fallen Canadians over many decades were very touching.   At one point I thought of my father Emerson Homer Wayne Wallace who served in the Canadian Army during the 2nd World War.   He did not go overseas but served his country in Truro, Nova Scotia, humbly working in a factory making truck tires for our army vehicles in Europe.   There were many ways of paying one's dues during the conflict.   I believe my dad was proud of his service.

They start 'em young in King City
Meet Michael.   He's 2 and a half years old.   He lives across the street from me on Bennet Drive.   I just had to get a picture of him helping his lucky dad wash the family car.   Well done, lad!

On the old Gelletly Farm
I photographed three different species of cattle on this historic King Township farm but I only recognized one breed - the Black Angus.   Anyone know the other two breeds?
