Garden Aurora 2023
Rooted in the town's history since 1918

A sunny Sunday, June 25, was the date for this year's Aurora Garden Tour.   Seven charming and impressive gardens were on the tour list this year.   In the photo above, Pat Cromie (left), a resident of Delmanor Retirement Residence, is given a monarch butterfly welcome by Donna Lewis, Nature Aurora president at one of the spectacular gardens.   Below are several views of the garden scenes on the tour.

Yellow peony at Lake Wilcox...

My new lady friend and neighbour Pat Cromie, at Delmanor Retirement Residence in Aurora, took the photo above of a yellow peony on a walk we took together at Lake Wilcox Park in Oak Ridges last week.   It was the first time in my 81 years that I had ever seen yellow peonies.   What a striking display!   Even my Oxford Dictionary only mentions red, pink and white peony colours...not YELLOW!

Three Aurora residents are pictured above observing Chimney Swifts occupying a large chimney at 64 Victoria Street, in Aurora (pictured below).   These volunteers are regular counters at this location and recorded a record 144 Chimney Swifts entering the building's chimney one evening last week.
