Harry McBride's Esso Service Station

This 1950s photo shows Harry McBride's Esso Service Station at the southwest corner of the King Road and Dufferin Street in King City.    Today, the site (below) is still an auto service centre, across The King Road from the Coppa's Plaza.

Then and now...

Photos above and below: Gordon Collection

The 1950s photo of 'Doc' Gordon's Garage (above) on the King Road in King City show the earliest form of the business, while the photo below show the business after it had become a 'Red Indian' dealer.   The photo at bottom shows the current Shopper's Drug Mart store on the old garage site.

East of King...north of Uxbridge...

 Photos by Barry Wallace
I found myself out Uxbridge way this past Saturday, at an interesting place called Banjo Cider.   It was a simple but charming place that serves up apple cider in many flavours and forms.   Pictured above are small shot glasses containing cider embellished with many natural fruit and nut and spice flavours.   It was fun picking a favourite.   There are full size bottles of cider, regular and flavoured, plus alcoholic versions also.   Sitting and sipping around a large open-pit fire on a beautiful sunny day was so memorable.
