Newest member of the family

My neighbour from across the street, Rob Merrilies, brought over the newest member of his family to show me, a few days ago.   It was a young Red Squirrel that fell out of a backyard tree.   Rob took pity on the little guy (or gal) and gave it something to drink and eat.   But the little guy either didn't want to climb back up, or didn't know how, so the Merrilies clan has a new mouth to feed.   I'll report more on this story as it unfolds.

Core Athletic Clubs to open in King City

Core Athletic Clubs has erected several signs in the King's Ridge Marketplace at King Road and Dufferin Streets announcing the opening of a new facility in the near future.   The site is currently under construction, adjacent to the new Coppa's food store.   It has been reported that the location will have a roof-top running track for members.

Schomberg Street Gallery preview at museum

Some of the paintings to be seen at this year's Schomberg Street Gallery on Sunday, September 11th, are currently in a preview showing in Kinghorn, at the King Heritage & Cultural Centre.   The painting at top is by Mahtab Abdollhai.   In the middle is a painting by Cayla Hollingshead and the bottom painting, called 'Dancing Lights' is by Silvia Phillips.   The event in Schomberg will also include not just paintings, but also sculpture, photo art, porcelain, pottery, leather work and jewellery.

Blackberries...yessss!

Our blackberries canes have finally grown to amazing lengths and heights and the berries have begun to ripen (see photo above) and they are so welcome.   Meanwhile, at ground level (see second photo), new blackberry canes have sprouted and will join the older canes next summer.

Dog Tales Festival 2016 a huge success

Thousands attend dog festival in King

Dog Tales Rescue Sanctuary outdid itself this past weekend at its Festival 2016. The sanctuary on King's 19th Sideroad, between Dufferin and Bathurst Streets, was packed both Saturday and Sunday with huge throngs of people and families, many of them with their adopted dogs from Dog Tales, in tow. Amazing food, unique international entertainment and memorable event decorations made for an outing to be remembered with great pleasure.   Herewith are some photos of the activities and events and participants, making the event so memorable.
