The original general store at the four corners in King City was built over 150 years ago, around 1863, by Benjamin Lloyd. The photo of the store, pictured above, was taken about 1907, approximately 7 years after James MacDonald purchased the building and business for his two sons. The store remained under ownership by succeeding MacDonald family members, (including Crawford Wells) for almost 75 years. New local owners, in 1975 continued to operate under the Crawford Wells General Store name (see photo below). The old store became Locale Restaurant & Bar in 2012 (see bottom photo).
