Blind lifetime friends were part of my late wife Linda's family history.
John Scott & David Moore
Life-time friends who lived on the Scott family farms between Vaughan and King in the mid-1850s. The Scotts were from one branch of my late wife, Linda (Cairns) Wallace. John Scott and David Moore were inseparable fixtures in southern York County for decades, seen almost daily walking about with David leading the way and John Scott following along clutching David's coattails. Photo from family history files.

Eaton Hall - built in 1938...
EATON HALL
Eaton Hall, a large 70-room castle-like home in the Norman style, on Dufferin Street In King Township, was built by Lady Eaton during 1938/1939. It sat on a 700-acre parcel of land, with its its own lake, and in 2025 it has been owned for several years by Seneca College. Today, Eaton Hall is used as an event venue, by the college.

The Mary T on Bond Lake - 1920s
The Mary T
Pictured above is the paddle steamer Mary T (a.k.a. The Lady of the Lake) touring folks around Bond Lake in the 1920s. Bond Lake came to be owned by the Metropolitan Railway Company. In the early 1900s, the Metropolitan Railway Company turned Bond Lake into a park area for their employess. There was a dancing pavilion erected and a playground for children. People could rent canoes or ride on the 'Lady of the Lake': The Mary T.

Watervolleyball at Delmanor Retirement Residence in Aurora...
Photos by Pat Cromie

Delmanor Aurora's water-volleyball team recently invited the water-volleyball team from Delmanor West Village in Etobicoke to a friendly challege match in Aurora. A great time was had by all with Aurora Delmanor winning the close 3/4 hour match. The Delmanor teams shared lunch after the match in the Pub at Delmanor Aurora and it seemed that another match in the new year was in the offing.

In the photo above, yours truly is about to serve to the guys and gals from Delmanor West Village and in the photo below, I'm returning their return of my service shot. How a bunch of 80 and 90-year-olds lasted 45 minutes non-stop was hard to believe, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves immensely. Good for us!
