The younger brother (seen above) of my partner Pat, at Delmanor Retirement Residence in Aurora, has just returned from England after participating in a race between London and Brighton. The vehicle he drove in was a 125-year-old open-top 1900 Daimler which had a 6 h.p. engine and solid rubber tires. There were 401 participating vehicles in the race.
Jim Wilgar and his compatriots reach Brighton, on the English Channel.

Thks Barry! The London to Brighton Vintage Car Run is the world’s oldest such event. It commemorates the termination of the “ RED FLAG ACT” ( 1865 to 1896) that required a UK motorized vehicle owner to have a person carrying a red flag in front when underway.
