Buses await students at the end of the first day at the new Holy Name Catholic School on King City's east side. Many homes surrounding the new school are occupied but don't look it, as finishing, paving and landscaping are far from complete. The school looks immaculate however and an all-day rain on Tuesday made is glisten. The heavy rains gave new subdivision water-retention ponds their first real test in several parts of the village (see below) and much water gathered on freshly graded, but incomplete, tracts of home sites.
Some new home construction is behind schedule and builders are praying for a dry autumn.
