Two well-geared kayakers were photographed in early August paddling south on the East Holland River Canal, bordering Pumphouse Road, in the King Township part of the Holland Marsh. The Holland Marsh occupies just over 2,800 hectares and is primarily organic soils. The canal is just over 28 kilometres long, which encircles the marsh. The Holland Marsh Drainage Project started in 1925 and took two years to complete.
