Last month, the Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust embarked on an exciting new project. A permanent educational display about the biodiversity of the moraine is being developed. The exhibit will be shared with school groups and participants for events like guided walks. The ORMLT has already received some fantastic donations, including five taxidermy fish, a wooden display cabinet, a dear antler, shells, fossils and the amazing butterfly and moth collection. Anyone with natural history items or display cabinets they would like to donate are asked to contact outreach@oakridgesmoraine.org. The butterflies were donated to the Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust by Phillippa Hajdu. She collected them in the Aurora area as a child in 1949 shortly after her family arrived in Canada from Britain.
