Honeybee on Coltsfoot flower...

This honeybee is gathering pollen from a Coltsfoot flower on the Oak Ridges Trail.   Note how a large blob of pollen is attached to each of the bee's back legs.

  1. I miss the bees this year. In my Aurora backyard garden, I'd easily say I have 95% less bees than other years (my dog is extra bored). My fruit trees have almost no fruit this year too. On the plus side, way, way more butterflies. More than I have seen in decades.

  2. With the strange, cool spring we had this year, many normal natural things seem to have gone a bit awry.
