'The History of King Township' by Ann Love and Sharon Bentley was launched on April 24 at the King Township Municipal Centre, before an enthusiastic gathering. Pictured below are the two authors and myself. Ann Love is on the left and Sharon Bentley is pictured on the right. I am now the proud owner of three of the history books, two of which I will be gifting to my daughters, Allison and Auralee, who were born and raised in King Township. My late wife was born a Cairns. The Cairns name in King Township dates back 190 years to 1835 when Adam Cairns became a homesteader on the 10th Concession of King, north of the King Road, on land that today is part of Cold Creek Conservation Area.
At right, I am seen, with longtime friends of mine and authors of the new King history book, Ann Love, left and Sharon Bentley, right.
The new King history book can be purchased at the King Cultural Centre, on the King Road, at Kinghorn, just east of Jane Street.
It will also be available at the King Township Municipal Offices in King City.
Please comment if you wish.
