Mourning Dove
The newest resident at Delmanor Retirement Residence in Aurora is a Mourning Dove which has nested and is presumably sitting on eggs upon a light fixture above the front door of the building's east entrance. Mourning Doves (Zenaida macroura) are probably the most abundant and widespread of all the doves and are found in a wide of habitats, including it seems, the entrances of large buildings. They are very attractive birds with their subtle mottled colouring and their call is a mournful 'oowoo-woo-woo-woo' .
