My partner Pat and I recently celebrated a birthday party in Orillia for three of Pat's close relatives, which featured a yellow watermelon quickly carved into a birthday cake . The celebrants were one of Pat's two daughters, a grand daughter, and a son-in-law, all of whose birthdays were close to the same day.
Pat's grand daughter takes a big bit
Ten of us, in total, celebrated the three birthdays on a sunny backyard deck. That's Pat, on the right above, washing down the yellow watermelon cake with a glass of red wine - an interesting combination.
Only one half of a yellow watermelon was needed to create the birthday cake, but in the end both halves of the watermelon were cut up and they were all consumed by the end of the party. Pat's grandson (pictured below left) consumed the most pieces of yellow watermelon cake.
