Hi James. If we hear a warning about damaging weather, we quickly push thin metal stakes into the ground around the flowers and herbs, throw a medium-weight plastic sheet over the stakes and weight it down with a couple of rocks, or whatever is handy. It only takes a couple of minutes and is usually quite effective. Regards, Barry
