Red Currant Jelly...

Just made a fresh batch of red currant jelly
I picked several quarts of red currants in the backyard on the weekend and Linda made several jars of of jelly on Tuesday which was the best ever, I think.  The first jar went to Rob, the electrician across the street, who had just made a small repair to a light in the basement and wouldn't take any money for the job.  Linda guessed he might accept the red currant jelly as a small thank-you gift  He immediately reciprocated with a jar of his own homemade rhubarb/strawberry jam.   So I'm back in his debt again, but we can share some tasty treats on our toast each morning.   Ahhhh, summer!
Please comment if you wish.

  1. Yummy berries although time consuming to pick.

Red currants are overlooked as a picking berry. My mother in law has a bush that we pick every year and use them to make raspberry red currant jam. I just had some on am english muffin this morning.
