My grandchildren's great-great-great grandfather Cairns settled here 188 years ago.
King Township's Cold Creek Conservation Area, pictured above, is where my late wife Linda's great grandfather William Cairns settled, after emigrating from Scotland with his older brother Adam Cairns in 1832. The plaque pictured below tells the story of the Adam Cairns homestead that was created here. The plaque also shows a map of the area where the Cairns settlement occurred, including an adjoining farm taken up by Adam Cairns' brother Jonas Cairns. The homestead plot is marked by six boulders and a plaque, just south of the Cold Creek Wheat Barn.
