Roadside flower identified...

My American friend and former King City resident ZZ, has identified what I had thought was a wildflower, growing on the edge of King's 7th Concession, as a...

Tulip Dasystemon Tarda

This turns out to be a delightful, early-flowering, miniature tulip that welcomes spring with white-tipped yellow petals and can remain in-ground all year.   It is not really a wildflower but is more of a cultivated flowering bulb.   It is only 6" high but is an instant charmer.   How this pretty little tulip came to be growing on the shoulder of a gravel road is a bit of a mystery.   Many thanks for the identification ZZ.
