South Muskoka to Kawartha Lakes
Big Chute Marine Railway to Peterborough - 168 kms.
Patricia Cromie and I just returned to Aurora after a 5-day boat cruise aboard the Kawartha Voyager which took us from Big Chute in south Muskoka to Peterborough in the Kawartha Lakes. It was a 168 kilometres of beautiful Ontario vacationland.

The original 'Big Chute Marine Railway' car
When I was a 17-year-old, back in 1958, my best friend Dan Buddin and I made a 7-day (123 km.) canoe trip from Forte Ste. Marie at Midland, Ontario, to Bradford, Ontario. Part of that trip saw us lifted up almost 160 feet on the marine railway car over the 'Big Chute' waterfall. That long-retired and preserved original marine railway car is pictured above. Pictured below is the third version of that contraption still transporting modern-day boaters along the Severn River.

This is a great story of adventure,, Barry. The Buddins were neighbours and we shared the party line. Where is Danny Buddin these days?
