My partner Pat and I visited my old friend Ted Bird and his wife Lynn just outside Schomberg recently. We enjoyed lunch and time in their beautiful flower garden ( see photos below).
Ted and I go back almost 70 years in King Township, when we were young teenagers starting at Aurora District High School, along with our two other best friends and neighbours Dan Buddin and Glenn McKinnon.
The four of us back them tramped all over King Township and the Oak Ridges Moraine, hiking on the King Ridge, fishing and building dams in the East Humber River, swimming in kettle lakes like Hackett Lake and bicycling all those gravel backroads and flying down big steep hills, like the descent on the paved King Sideroad, (two of us on one bike) into Kinghorn!
Those were the days!
